24 Places That Hire 15-Year-Olds For Their First Job

There’s nothing like the satisfaction of earning a paycheck, especially for your first job. Lots of places hire teens because of their availability on nights and weekends and over the summer. Earn extra money for your own expenses, save for a car or for college, or help out your family.

Some businesses have a nationwide policy of hiring teens no younger than 16 but make exceptions in states with laws in place for younger teens to work, so check your state’s work requirements and ask managers about their hiring policies.

McDonald’s

The fast-food giant is one of the most popular places for teens to get their first job. McDonald’s franchises have different policies but many hire teens as young as 14 in states that allow it.

Safeway

Safeway offers a variety of jobs for applicants as young as 14. On the Careers page of their website, jobs can be sorted by your age and location.

Boston Market

Boston Market has over 400 locations nationwide and hires counter staff and kitchen crew starting at age 15.

Baskin Robbins

Individual Baskin Robbins franchises hire teens as young as 15 to scoop ice cream. It’s a sweet summer job that will keep you busy.

Vons

The grocery chain Vons, a subsidiary of Safeway, hires 14- and 15-year-olds as courtesy clerks and cake decorators in the bakery. The Careers link on their website takes you to Safeway’s job openings page, so Vons encourages applicants to apply to stores in person.

Culver’s

This American casual dining chain has over 600 locations around the country. Culver’s hires teen as young as 14 but some positions have a older age requirements.

Kroger

Depending on state laws and the availability of positions, Publix hires teens starting at 14 years old.
